Urban, Dance and Pop


We are seeking a honed music industry professional to lead a division of one of the most respected music and entertainment companies globally. This executive will manage publishing and A&R within the Urban, Dance and Pop groups.


REQUIRED


•Extensive Publishing and A&R experience within Pop, Dance and Urban genres, desired.

•A mindset and business practices that are  “innovative” with a keen awareness of “new culture” , “music technology” and a record of setting “trends” in the music industry.

•Broad business acumen and leadership skills. With a reputation in the industry that will attract other talented music executives, creatives and artists. 

•The Sr. Director of Publishing & A&R shall sign his own writing team to consistently provide songs for some of the most noted artists in the world. 

•This executive should be active in the "creative industry community" and represent the firm in a way that reflects the Firm’s leadership role as an “innovator”, “creative facilitator” and “technological maverick in the music & entertainment industry”.  

•A record of providing creative service to writers in a manner than enhances relationships and builds business.

•Manage writing sessions for artists with in-house and third-party writers, either independent or signed to other publishers, to leverage various recording studios owned by the company.

•Constantly source demos from third party writers and publishers for company artists

•Collaborate with Publishing Administrative management & staff to lead the division and maintain a productive and positive work environment and culture that people enjoy coming to every day.

•Maturity to work with noted artists and their management as well as external counsel and internal legal departments.  A good sense of royalty and copyrights law.

•Reporting capabilities to keep senior management accurately informed of current and future business developments and interact with senior-most management.

•This executive must be hands-on and lead by example. 

•A player/coach capability will be essential.  This executive must be well rounded from a business, industry, creative, publishing, management and artist perspective. 

•A reputation that attracts relationships with a history of music industry success. 

•Must enjoy functioning as part of a "Team" that is one of the most respected in the industry.  "Team Spirit" is a core component to the Firm’s positive culture

•A minimum of 10 years+ of music publishing/A&R leadership experience.   We are seeking a leader, so all Sr. Directors, VP’s and Sr VP’s will be considered based on your experience vs. your title.

•Soft skills should exhibit thoughtfulness, maturity, confidence, honesty and intelligence.  

•This executive will interface with a broad spectrum of talented writers, artists and industry executives, so there must be "sensitivity" and “acumen” to work with “Creatives, Creative Representation, External Business Relationships and “Report up to Senior Management” in a concise, timely, honest and detailed manner.

Summary


Diversified global music and media entertainment company is seeking a honed music publishing executive with broad acumen in copyrights and royalties administration.


​The firm is seeking a music publishing professional with operational competency who desires stability, security and career growth in the music industry, with a highly respected firm


Compensation


Based on experience, a starting salary of $80,000 to $100,000 with comprehensive health, welfare, savings and PTO.  Offered is a noted corporate creative culture and work environment.


Responsibilities & Experience Required


This music publishing executive will perform a wide range of duties reporting to the head of music publishing and attending meetings with the President of U.S. music publishing.

•A minimum of 5-10 years of music publishing experience.

•Broad acumen with music royalties & copyrights  

•Knowledge of synchronization (syc)

•Ability to determine and maintain accurate actuals

•Supervise one copyright assistant and mentor to develop their skills

•Exhibit good judgment and broad acumen to interface with artists, writers, representation and creatives

•Business  and legal acumen to interface directly with the internal legal department and external law firm  

•Comprehensive organizational, time management and computer skills

•Good soft and interpersonal skills to work in an upbeat, friendly and deadline-driven environment that is highly desired in the industry.

•Maturity to work in a confidential manner    

•A music publishing professional who enjoys a creative environment and keeps abreast of industry trends
